Village

The ancient American inhabitants of the eastern United States built large, fortified cities. Their villages were often clustered on a hilltop and surrounded by a palisade of pointed tree trunks which created a wall for defense.

A specific DNA lineage common amongst the Druze population of Israel was also found among Native Americans in the Great Lake area of the US and Canada. This lineage is known by geneticists as Haplogroup X.
